The 2009-2010 season brings an end to a successful season and sets up a promising upcoming season as Cal loses only three senior varsity wrestlers. Cal’s 12 participating varsity wrestlers at league finals qualified to the Coastal CIF championships. Juniors, Miguel and Juan Rosales, earned Del Rio league championships. Miguel was named the lower weight MVP wrestler. Although Anthony Zepeda and Andrew Garcia were the only two wrestlers from Cal that placed at the CIF championship tournament others earned several victories. Anthony advanced to the Masters Tournament by placing fourth at CIF. Andrew medaled at CIF by placing 6th and will return next year to try to top this year’s finish. Elias Mercado (2-2), Miguel Rosales (3-2), Juan Rosales (2-2), and Miguel Maldonado (2-2) also scored some victories at CIF.
