Cal Gains Experience @ LA Watts

Twelve Cal Wrestlers participated in the Watts games gaining valuable experience.  It was a youthful dozen and three (Anthony Zepeda, Miguel Maldonado, and Miguel Rosales) managed to get to the semifinals in their respective weights.     All nine remaining wrestlers won at least one match.  In the end,  Anthony was the only placer as a runnerup at 130 lbs.   Good performances by Juan Rosales, Omar Lopez, Nick Mercado,  and Andrew Garcia.   Other Condors with victories were Mark Gonzales, Alyssa Garcia, Ismael Zamudio, and Dean Stevens.  Congrats to Elias Mercado for getting his second career win.

Reminders

  • Weigh-in from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m
  • Bouts begin at 9 a.m.
  • Competition is expected to run until approximately 7 p.m., with awards immediately following.
  • There is no food or drink allowed.
  • If you have not paid your entry fee, or plan on bringing additional wrestlers to the tournament, please bring the fee to the tournament. ($10 per participant, $140 maximum if more than 11 participants)

Rules

  • Bouts are three (3) one-minute periods. If no winner, there is a 30-second sudden death overtime period.
  • Double elimination tournament where after the first loss the wrestler moves to the consolation bracket and after a second loss wrestler is eliminated.
