Open (O) = High level Varsity & College level

Cal Wrestling has been well represented at the Freestyle Tournaments.  It seems every week we get more people going, and I hope that trend continues this weekend!  Last weekend, we took six wrestlers.  Dan Guzman wrestled his way to two medals, and many wrestlers got over 6 matches including…Juan and Miguel Rosales, Christian, Caesar, Dan, and Alex.  The new match total will be posted in Coach Loo’s room, go check it out. 

This weekend we will go to the Orange County Freestyle tournament where USA cards are not required.  All you need is your shoes, $10, and be at the high school at 6:15  I hope to see you there, and don’t forget Freestyle State is coming up on June 6-7!!

Congratulations!

This is one of the best banquets Cal High Wrestling has ever had.  We had over 120 guests.  Thank you to Mrs. Melendrez and Mrs. Moraga for their hard work, food was delicious!  Some wrestlers couldn’t get enough.  I am looking forward to another great year, as we have 85% of our team coming back next year.  Hit those freestyle tournaments and Summer camps and we will see you wrestling in March (State Tournament).

Once again, thank you to all the families and wrestlers that attended tonight’s celebration.

I do not agree with their Wrestler of the Year choice.  Orona was more deserving given his 3rd place finish at State.
